Alan Cohen, M.A., ACIM student and teacher for 35 years, is the author of the best-selling A Course in Miracles Made Easy and 25 other popular inspirational books, including the award-winning A Deep Breath of Life, and the classic Are You as Happy as Your Dog? He is a contributing writer for the New York Times #1 bestselling series Chicken Soup for the Soul, and his books have been translated into 24 foreign languages. His work has been featured on Oprah.com and in USA Today, The Washington Post and 101 Top Experts. Alan’s radio program Get Real is broadcast weekly on Hay House Radio, and his monthly column From the Heart is featured in magazines internationally.

Alan’s Takeaway:

  • You don’t have to be perfect to be a Teacher of God. If you wait and delay until you are perfect, you are withholding good from yourself and the world. You can do it now, right where you stand. You can help folks even before you have your act totally together.

Corinne’s Takeaways:

  • I love how Alan said, “You are not the coach/Healer/or Teacher.” Your job is to get out of the way! Every time I speak to groups of people, even before I recorded this show with Alan, I used what he referred to as the “healer’s prayer” from A Course in Miracles:

“I am here only to be truly helpful. I am here to represent Him Who sent me. I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do, because He Who sent me will direct me.I am content to be wherever He wishes, knowing He goes there with me.I will be healed as I let Him teach me to heal.”(Foundation for Inner Peace Edition, T-2.V.A.18)

  • There are many teachers, successful coaches, authors, etc. who still struggle! This was such a helpful reminder from Alan. No one has it all together. We have to remember that we’re all in the process of remembering Love, and no one is perfect! I love how the Course reminds us that “as you teach so shall you learn.” We’re always teaching what we need to learn.
