In the Miracle Share ACIM Community group on Facebook, a question recently arose about how to work with early morning anxiety.
I used to wake up with terrible early morning anxiety that wasn’t attached to anything. My chest felt tight, my body felt like a solid a bundle of nerves, and all I wanted to do was make it go away. Not a fun way to start to the day.
I learned over time though that this anxiety was surfacing as an opportunity to be healed. It was an opportunity to look at what was coming up WITH Spirit, even if I had no idea what it was attached to (though ACIM explained the source of anxiety for me, as I explain in this video).
In this video blog, I share exactly how I worked with early morning anxiety. Since I’ve been practicing looking at the anxiety WITH Spirit, I no longer have early morning anxiety. Nor do I fear it if it were to return, because I know I have tools that WORK. If this video resonated with you, be sure to let me know what you think by leaving a comment below!
Thank you Corinne, this video on reducing anxiety is very helpful as I have to have an endoscopy to exclude cancer next week & have been peaceful one day & extremely anxious on waking the next day for the past week & I will now remember to look at it with Holy Spirit.
I’m glad this video helped, Ruth! I’m joining you in Light and Love.
Hi Corinne, Great video! Early morning is worst time. I will try this tomorrow. Thanks!
Thanks Brian! Let me know how it goes 🙂
Thank you so much Corinne, That was Truly Helpful ! I too experience the morning anxiety when I don,t remember to ask Spirit for help…. This is a great reminder……
I’m glad it was helpful, Tricia! Yes, we simply need to remember to ask. 🙂
What a wonderful vlog Corrine! So helpful 🙂 I love that you highlighted that we can always look at things with the Holy Spirit instead of going through it alone. An important thing we learn through the Course, which has always given me comfort is that we are in fact never alone. We are always One with Our Source and the Holy Spirit is always there ready to hold our hand, we need only ask. <3 Thank you for the loving reminder!! Fiona 🙂
Thanks for your kind words Fiona! I’m grateful we share the same path 🙂 xo
Corinne,
Thank you for the reminder to bring my anxiety to Spirit. I also experience early AM feelings of anxiousness. Often, they then lead to negative feelings about myself and others and so I approach the morning looking to “get busy” as you described. Will incorporate this new perspective you’ve shown into my morning routine of looking for the Sun within.
Richard.
I’m so happy to hear you’ll be incorporating this, Richard. And I LOVE how you refer to “looking for the Sun within.” That reminds me of this ACIM quote: “The sun in you has risen.” Thanks for reminding me of this!
Thank you for this my friend. I have been a Course student & teacher for awhile and had been baffled a bit with this morning anxiety issue. I am so often free of fear and anxiety in specific situations (the OPPOSITE of most of my human experience before!) .So, this first thing in the morning anxiety for seemingly no reason was a bit perplexing.. Your video makes perfect sense. Especially, for me, as I release the belief in “specific” projections of guilt by giving them to Spirit and asking for Guidance, I am left with the core of the matter… The unconscious guilt. Thank you Corinne for bringing this to Light and thank you morning anxiety for the forgiveness opportunity!
Hi Roy-
Thanks for your comment – I’m glad the video was helpful. I like how you clearly you articulate that as we “release the belief in “specific” projections of guilt by giving them to Spirit and asking for Guidance, I am left with the core of the matter… The unconscious guilt.” That’s it! What a relief that we have a “way out” of this too. Many blessings!
I too have this in various levels of intensity. I had not had one for a quite a while until the other day. It kind of stayed with me and I just watched it. Around 3:30 it disappeared. I know that’s how mindfulness works. If I do nothing I know it will pass. But i never really thought about how the mind is always working even during sleep. My husband has this every single day right now. I am going to pass this on to him. Thank you for this. I like what you said to Roy, “the unconscious guilt that we can give to Holy Spirit so She can help us with forgiveness tools. 🙂
Thank you for sharing Rosemarie! And I LOVE how you refer to Holy Spirit as “She.” 🙂
Hi,
So I wake up with the morning anxiety quite often. When you say you looked at it with spirit what does that mean?
Was it hard to feel peace because you were always waiting for anxiety to creep back in?
