As students of A Course in Miracles, we often fall into a trap of thinking that Holy Spirit (our Inner Teacher) is something outside of and separate from ourselves. I have done this too! I love this quote from the Urtext (the original manuscripts) of the Course. Reading this truly shifted and deepened my relationship with my Inner Teacher, because I no longer thought of Spirit as something outside of my Self:
How awesome is that! Spirit is quite literally your Right Mind and is not separate from you. This quote came up for me recently when a number of people happened to ask me these similar questions: “Who is my Inner Teacher? How do I connect with it? And how do I “hand things over” to it? In this video, I share my answers to these questions and also a meditation from one of my favorite teachers on how to connect with Spirit within.
How do you sense Spirit within? I’d love to hear how you experience Love’s presence within yourself. Let me know by leaving a comment below. 🙂
First, I must say thanks. It has only been recently that I have discovered you in my journey. I began seeking truth about who I am and who God is somewhere about 8 – 10 years ago, after an abundant history in different denominations/churches of the Christian faith. It was three years ago that I found Marianne Williamson’s book A Return to Love and purchased it as an audiobook. Within a few weeks I picked up a copy of A Course in Miracles combined textbook + workbook and began going through the workbook only. My journey is so much more rich than that, and I have read and soaked in stories from many people that have and continue to influence my view of myself, of God, and of the world.
Over the past year (especially) my most precious time of the day is the early morning. I have gradually begun rising earlier and earlier and lovingly creating a morning ritual that folds in slowness, attention, self love, grounding in my bare feet outside in the grass with a cup of hot lemon water and looking at the end of the night sky, listening to affirmations and prayers on my earbuds (especially important and largely influential in changing my thoughts to positive), yoga, reading & reflection & prayers. The voice memo app on my phone has changed my life. As I was going through ACIM workbook I kept trying to figure out a way to carry the thought for the day with me. Started with index cards, but was so excited when I figured out I could read it to myself on voice memo to listen to when I needed it. This evolved very quickly to recording affirmations, acknowledgements (of self — feelings, needing comfort, “I See You Cindy” kind of thing), many prayers (Marianne Williamson ones, Four Agreements, my own created prayers), a few choice ACIM workbook expanded thoughts like “my grievances hide the light of the world in me”, and more. I now have transferred these voice memos to iTunes and created playlists for the morning, for evening, and for overwhelm times when the voice in my head is set on autoplay and I need my own true self to remind me of what is true. I have found my own voice to be so soothing and it has helped me to make the connection that I do, indeed, have an Inner Teacher, a true self that remains as God created me, who is here always for me and with me.
Recently I have been given gifts like you, and Scott Grace, who combine things that I have already been doing myself and as a support and a virtual friend. So thank you Corinne. I am grateful for your work.
Hi Cindy! What you shared is so beautiful! I especially love how you say that you’ve found your “own voice” to be so soothing because that is the Voice of Love shining through! What a great idea to record these thoughts for yourself. I used to use notecards as reminders and during my commute, I’d listen to ACIM in my car. There was something about driving and listening… The words just sunk right in. My mom used to wear a band aid on her hand with her lesson written on it – it was pretty funny but very useful! Thank you so much for sharing your story and I’m SO happy we’ve connected! ((Hugs)) xo
Corrine, I love your presentations. you reminded me how to connect deeply today and I realized I’ve intellectualizing a lot and kind of lost my connection. I process info all the time and forget to ask My Right Mind to allow the lessons/info to deeply resonate within by bringing me some life experience where I get to share or witness a projection of mine or someone else that demonstrates that I Get It! that is help me to ‘ recognize’ when the opportunity to ‘shift’ my perception is showing up. I’ve been distracted of late and when that happens I get confused again and so you brought me back today by helping me locate that place in my boday which for me is also the solar plexus/heart area and not in my head and so for that I thak you.
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your experience, Pam! It is SO easy to get caught in our heads with intellectualizing. And you’re spot on about asking for the EXPERIENCE of the truth of Love. It is that experience that is the greatest teacher and builds our trust. Miracles happen when we simply pause to drop into that place where we sense Spirit (outside of our heads). xo
Thank you Corrine! I really love your meditation on connecting with the Holy Spirit! It was very helpful in feeling that the Holy Spirit comes from within and is not outside of us. In my moments of connection with Holy Spirit I always take the concluding few moments to accept Atonement. I say to God (Source) that in reality I know I never separated and that I am grateful for the truth that we are all One in the Mind of God, and then I feel that gratitude and Love grow within. Your work is amazing, so helpful and I’m excited for your weekly videos! All my Love, Fiona
Hi Fiona! As I was reading the words that you say to God, I felt love pouring through my heart and an enormous amount of gratitude. THANK YOU love!
Beautiful video Corinne! I love what you shared 🙂 Very helpful to have another concrete way to connect to the inner teacher within. This is a question and answer that will help many! You rock! One of the ways I connect to my inner teacher is by visualizing the part of me that is in pain. It may look like a child version of me or sometimes even an object. I then step into the compassionate place within me and feel that love surrounding the part of me suffering. Sometimes there are many layers before the compassion flows out. I keep repeating the visualizing until the love that is within me is what I have the most access to so I can surround these parts (the ego) with a loving hug. I often call this place within me the True Self!
This is so beautiful Jen, and thank you for your kind words! I LOVE the visualization that you use. It is so powerful especially when we are in some kind of pain. I also love “True Self.” There are so many beautiful ways to describe this part of our very own mind. Love you!
Hello Corinne,
Thank you for sharing.
I have been working with my Right Mind (Holy Spirit) for just a few months and I find myself spiritually smack bang in the middle of my forehead. That is where I feel centered and balanced. When I’m at peace with my eyes closed I feel light, airy, and spirit(me) shifts by contracting to the centre of my forehead and then when I settle then I will expand outwards. It’s quite difficult to explain because spirit has no form, just states of being. Anyways, at this stage the physical universe is very distracting so it’s nice to be able to simply BE in Heaven by just closing my eyes. I pass over my thoughts by using a simple prayer. I am still working on how to receive the answers to my prayers. I think they sometimes come as an impulse to do something and sometimes as a thought/image without voice or words.
I hope this comment reaches somebody so they may find working with Spirit a little easier. 🙂
Much Love to You and All,
Paula

I love that you experience Spirit right in the middle of your forehead! What you shared is really helpful because it is an example of another place in the body that people can “tune in.” Thank you so much!
