I recently had a powerful experience in my sleep demonstrating this teaching. In my sleeping dream I was experiencing fear. It felt difficult to look away from the fear because it was so compelling and strong. Yet in this dream, I remembered that it is my task to turn to Source and look to Love. This choice in my sleeping dream then impacted my waking dreams. Enjoy the full story here:

Hi Corinne, not quite like this, but once was meditating before sleep and remembered reading about giving my mind to Holy Spirit before sleep, so did, then had the best night’s sleep of my life. No dreams, thoughts or memories. Slept in the light in perfect peace and woke up bouncing off the walls with joy. Wish I slept like that every night! Would be cool to remember spiritual practices in my sleep 🙂

I remember many years ago, I had a dream which felt so real, it didn’t seem like it could possibly be a dream. I was going through a very rough time and I didn’t think I had any options left to improve my life. In the dream, my deceased mother was sitting next to me on my bed and she said just 3 words to me, “There’s always alternatives”! I always remembered that but didn’t quite know how to put it to use.
Fast forward 20 years later and I am reading the course material and when I get to the words that Bill said to Helen, “There must be another way”, which started the ball rolling to the course in miracles and I got an immediate flashback to the dream with the visit from my mother… so the message to me was loud and clear. Way back, early in life, the Holy Spirit was trying to get my attention, trying to get me to look at things differently, and trying to get me to let go and put my life in Hands of Jesus or the Holy Spirit!
Next came the message of Divine Providence. This is when God allows something bad to happen to bring about a greater good.
Nowadays, when things are going bad, I ask the Holy Spirit to show me another way rather then ask for something specific and when I do that…I ALWAYS get an answer! It’s almost like Jesus is happy I finally listen to Him! 🙂

May I offer some thoughts on what you said about Divine Providence? This is just an idea that has been helpful to me, so please feel free to take it or leave it. A Course in Miracles is teaching us that God is INcapable of causing us any kind of pain, because God is ONLY Love. Pain only ever comes from the belief in separation (which is another way of saying “ego”). I wrote a blog post about this topic in which I share how important it is to look at our unconscious fears of God.
